31 ink drawings in 31 days during October
I participated in an Inktober-style challenge hosted by the Trailbound Sketches Discord community. I’ve struggled to complete these types of challenges in the past. This time, I gave myself boundaries and there was a supportive group of fellow artists to help motivate me. I divided a large sheet of fluid mixed media paper into six 4″ boxes then traced a template for borders. All subjects were to be nature or outdoors themed to help keep me focused.
The challenge helped me transition from an active summer outdoors to working consistently on my drawing skills at home. As I went from the drawing stage to the painting stage, I realized I was building a habit that I could fill with any kind of art practice after the challenge is complete. Making hand drawn coloring pages may be a fun future project!
After completing the October challenge, there was a follow-up “Colorvember” challenge to paint each drawing from Inktober throughout the month of November.
